Discover What You Can Do to Make an Impact this World Environment Day
The 5th of June marks World Environment Day. Show-me is taking action, but we need your help. From the depths of our oceans to our stunning landscapes, plastic waste has infiltrated every corner of our planet. At Show-me, we’re committed to doing our bit. That’s why we’re delighted to offer a simple, money-saving recycling scheme that gives schools (and offices) an easy way to return used Show-me whiteboards, markers, and erasers. By teaming up with local recycling heroes Precious Plastic East, we’re not just keeping plastic out of landfill – we’re turning it into something new.
Why Recycling in Schools Matters
Recycling in schools is more than just waste management. It’s a simple but powerful way to inspire future generations to take action. By recycling classroom items such as whiteboards, markers, and erasers, schools help cut down on landfill waste and pollution. With sustainability becoming such a hot topic, taking simple steps in the classroom allows children to take responsibility for their environment and begins their lifelong awareness of being sustainable. Recycling also supports hands-on learning and can influence eco-friendly habits beyond the classroom. With schemes like Show-me’s Send-Back scheme, it’s easier than ever for schools to make a real difference – while saving money, too.

Here’s How the Scheme Works
As part of our commitment to helping our planet, we are always looking at ways in which we can make as many products as possible circular, even if they are a ‘consumable’ item. Our “send-back” recycling scheme allows you to send us your old mini whiteboards (A3 or smaller), whiteboard markers, and whiteboard erasers to be transformed into something new.
Here’s how it works:
- Collect your used Show-me whiteboards (A3 or smaller), markers, and erasers. We’d recommend setting up a collection box in each classroom or office and download our poster to make a display.
- Package them up when you’ve got a good batch. Make sure you use a double-walled cardboard box that is free from water damage, so we can also recycle it! Make sure it is well sealed, we don’t want any of those caps falling out.
- Send them back to us using the instructions on our website.
- We’ll do the rest, working with Precious Plastic East to recycle the items into useful new products.
The best part? It’s not just better for the planet, it’s also a cost-effective way for schools to manage waste and make eco-conscious choices without adding more work to teachers’ plates. Your school will even get a 10% off voucher to use on Show-me products once we receive your box.
Shout About It
Is your school on social media? If so, it’s great to share the steps you’re taking to reduce your environmental impact. Use the hashtag #showmerecycling to share your involvement in the scheme, and be sure to tag us @showmeboards. Access our handy certificate and social media content pack to promote your recycling efforts and encourage even more people to get involved.
The recycling scheme is open to schools and offices in mainland UK. Get in touch with us if you are in Ireland or another country; we’d be happy to help!
The Transformation Recycling Station
You might be thinking, what on earth are they going to make with my old school or office supplies? The team at Precious Plastics East are ready to wow you. They clean, shred, and make new stuff out of waste plastic from their workshop in Great Yarmouth – just a short drive from our head office in Gorleston!
Once the team have received our boxes of used products, they clean, shred, and injection mould the plastic we have collected all in their local workshop. They create an array of items such as beads, buttons, wall hooks, pots, and more! Find out more about the team and their processes:
Time to Take Action
This World Environment Day, Show-me is proud to get the conservation going by inviting schools and offices across the UK to take action. Our simple, cost-effective recycling scheme makes it easy to send back used mini whiteboards, markers, and erasers, which are then transformed into new, useful products by our recycling partners at Precious Plastic East.
It’s a small step with a big impact – reducing waste, promoting sustainability, and inspiring the next generation to protect our planet. Ready to get involved? Let’s turn your classroom waste into something wonderful.
